MRI
Parkside MRI, IL

Problem:  Parkside MRI performs both inpatient and outpatient MRI studies for various hospitals in their local area just north of Chicago.  Parkside had one open MRI system that was non-DICOM.  They were required by their hospital clients to save these studies in DICOM format.  A new open MRI would cost at least $1.2 million. What could they do?

Solution:  TIMS DICOM System. Parkside MRI works with Managed Technologies, a PACS and IT consulting firm.  Ed Mungai of Managed Technologies discovered the TIMS DICOM System via a web search. After discussing the situation with Foresight Imaging, Ed found that he could upgrade his current open MRI to DICOM and send to their Siemens PACS with a TIMS 1000 DICOM System for under $15k installed. This saved Parkside MRI at least $1.2 million in capital expenditures. Ed commented, “The simple PC interface of TIMS made it extremely easy to use. It fit in easily with our workflow, and as we used the system for a few days, we discovered we could do much more with it, including record DICOM CDs and DVDs right at the TIMS station. Further, being a standard PC, it fit in perfectly with our Windows back-up and maintenance strategy.”
